TRIVANDRUM AND KANYAKUMARI

Trivandrum (official name Thiruvananthapuram), lying on the southwest coast of India, is the capital to the state of Kerala.

The place is well connected to most of the other major cities of India through rail, road, and air network. Because of its proximity to the sea, the climate of Trivandrum is tropical. This also gives Trivandrum a very pleasant weather round the year. The southernmost extremity, 'Parasala' is 56 kms away from Kanyakumari, the 'land's end of India'. The district stretches along the shores of the Arabian Sea for a distance of 78 kms. Thiruvananthapuram and its famous beaches are one of the top tourist destinations of Tourists in Inida. It is the capital city of Kerala, the 'God's own Country'. Thiruvananthapuram is well connected by air, rail and road.

SREE PADMANABHA SWAMY TEMPLE

Shree Padhmanabhaswamy temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu is held sacred by the Hindus from antiquity. The shrine is run by a trust headed by the Travancore. The temple has a large complex with a huge gopuram. It has a tank beside it for ritual bathing.

AGASTYA MALA  

Also known as Agastyarkoodam, Agastya Mala is a peak which stands tall at 1,868 meters within the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghats of Kerala. The peak offering panoramic views is also a pilgrimage centre for devotees of a Hindu Sage Agastya, who is one of the Saptarishi's in the Hindu scriptures. A full size statue of Lord Agastya is perched on the peak where devotees can offer their prayers. This peak can be reached only by trekking. The Kerala government allows for pilgrims wanting to visit by giving them permits as the sanctuary is bound by strict rules for its preservation.

POOVAR ISLAND

A popular tourist attraction in Trivandrum. A small coastal village, Poovar is said to have been the place called 'Ophir' where the ships of the biblical king Solomon had arrived. It was then an important center of trade for sandalwood, spices and timber. The island lies very close to the natural harbor at Vizhinjam and is known for its ethereal beauty

Padmanabhapuram Palace is located in at Padmanabhapuram Fort, close to the town of Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District, Tamilnadu, in India. It is about 20 km from Nagercoil, and about 50 kilometers from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

Kowdiar Palace is the personal residence of members of the Royal Family of erstwhile Travancore. The Palace was gifted in 1915 to HH Maharani Sethu Parvathi Bayi by HH Maharajah Moolam Thirunal.

KOVALAM

Kovalam is 12kms to the south of Thiruvananthapuram and is one of the finest beaches in India. It has been developed into an integrated seaside resort. The beach complex has many hotels, cottages, yoga centre etc. This is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse. Sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes and catamaran cruising are some of them. The tropical sun acts so fast that one can see the faint blush of coppery tan on the skin in a matter of minutes. Life on the beach begins late in the day and carries on well into the night. The beach complex includes a string of budget cottages, Ayurvedic health resorts, and convention facilities, shopping zones, swimming pools, Yoga and Ayurvedic massage centres.

VIZHINJAM

About 2kms south of Kovalam, it is believed to be an ancient port. The Dutch and Portuguese had commercial establishments here. It is being developed as a modern fishing harbor. Vizhinjam is an all-weather port and the international shipping line is just one nautical mile off Vizhinjam coast. The port has a natural depth of 24 m (which is by far the best compared to other ports in the world) as close as one Nautical Mile from the sea coast. There is no littoral sedimentation and due to natural depth availability, the site needs no dredging or minimal capital dredging requirements and thus low costs (as compared to the any other port in India within a reasonable distance from the East-West Shipping axis).

PONMUDI

Ponmudi  (the Golden Peak) is a hill station in and  is a part of the Western Ghats mountain range that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea..Ponmudi is blessed with scenic splendor and natural beauty and has a carpet of thick tropical forest that rolls down to the foot of the hill range.

VELI LAGOON

The undulating shoreline of Kerala is broken by lagoons that merge into inland lakes to form some of the most picturesque picnic spots. One such is the Veli lagoon, separated from the Arabian sea by a narrow sand bar. This is a popular picnic spot in Thiruvananthapuram where the Veli Lake merges with the Arabian Sea. The boat club attracts tourists by providing facilities for pedal boating, row boating , swimming on the placid waters of the veli lake.

THE KANAKAKUNNU PALACE

This palace in the heart of Trivandrum city is one of the most beautiful buildings. The palace and its sprawling grounds are today the venue for many cultural meets. VIVEKANANDA ROCK AND THRIVENI SANGAMAM

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is a monument and it is a popular tourist attraction in Vavathurai, Kanyakumari, India. The memorial stands on one of two rocks located about 500 meters east off mainland of Vavathurai, India's southernmost tip. It was built in 1970 by the Vivekananda Rock Memorial Committee in honour of the visit of the Hindu spiritual teacher Swami Vivekananda to Shripada Parai during the month of December 1892. It is claimed that he swam to this rock and meditated. It is said that he attained enlightenment on the rock, and henceforth became a reformer and philosopher. According to legend, it was on this rock that Goddess Kumari performed austerity.A meditation hall (Dhyana Mandapam) is also attached to the memorial for visitors to meditate. The design of the mandapa incorporates different styles of temple architecture from all over India. It houses a statue of Vivekananda. The merger of three seas - Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean can be seen from these rocks
